Free, family friendly drawing activities at Selby Library this summer

As Truth and Fantasy moves to Selby Library this August, join us for some fantastic drawing activities with exhibition artists Penny Davenport and Simon Woolham.

Our first official day is Saturday 4th August but you can come in for early inspiration from 2pm on Friday 3rd. Penny Davenport will be in the library both days (2-5pm on Friday and 10-12 on Saturday) to encourage you to pick up a pencil and draw. Her own work draws from observation and imagination, featuring engaging animal-like figures but you can let your pencil (or pen, or graphite stick, or pastel) go wherever you want it to!

Simon Woolham will be in the library on Friday 31st August 10-4 and Saturday 1st September 10-12, celebrating the end of the school holidays. Simon’s work takes its inspiration from the memories people recount of places and events significant to them: his workshop “Exploring and Excavating Histories” will use rubbings of textures within the library to create a large composite ‘image’ of the library.

Both workshops are free, suitable for all ages and you don’t need to book- drop in for an hour or several, it’s up to you. If you need any further information you can email us or contact Selby Library
